What are we looking for?
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the company, under the guidance of the Controller Group and Group Chief Financial Officer.
The Accounting Manager is a key member of the broader corporate finance team. This role includes responsibility for the full cycle of accounting with the assistance of accounting admin staff. The Accounting Manager is the final check in the finance control system and will monitor and modify corporate controls to ensure guidelines are followed and risks are effectively mitigated. The individual in this role is responsible for internal and external reporting as requested. This includes but is not limited to Budget/Actual variance analysis adhoc internal and cashflow reporting. The candidate will also be involved with bringing all accounting and reporting inhouse, as well as supporting the implementation of the Group’s enterprise accounting software for the company.
Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly reporting process, ensuring adequate processes and controls and adherence to deadlines, and ensuring all is properly documented;
- Maintain a strong and skilled finance team through coaching, counseling and mentoring employees, as well as planning, monitoring, and appraising job results;
- Timely completion of month-end data entry including revenue/expense accruals, corporate tax accruals and instalment payments;
- Will advise stakeholders by analysing variances and suggesting corrective actions
- Manage the accuracy of day-to-day finance activities including; accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, payroll postings, fixed asset records, general accounting;
- Provide analysis of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting financial data;
- Responsible for cash flow management and reporting;
- Oversee the company’s monthly and yearly closing and reconciliations;
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset regarding accounting procedures;
- Ad hoc reports as required.
Requirements
- The candidate should have or be pursuing an accounting designation or a degree in accounting/economics/finance and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience or equivalent transferable skills;
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential;
- Experience and knowledge of Spanish statutory filing requirements and tax law;
- Experience and knowledge of Gibraltar statutory filing requirements and tax law consider an asset but not required;
- Skilled in managing people and processes, developing standards, tracking budget expenses, analysing and interpreting financial information;
- Should possess exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, good judgment, as well as strong planning/organisational acumen and leadership traits;
- Intermediate-level Excel experience is required;
- Experience with D365 or other enterprise accounting software;
- Experience in Jira or similar digital file management database is an asset;
- Must respect confidentiality and demonstrate integrity;
- Successful candidate will have strong initiative, demonstrate diligence and be a proactive problem-solver;
- A positive attitude with a friendly and positive disposition is key to the workplace;
- Must be comfortable communicating with all levels/departments within the organization;
- Flexible and team-oriented; with a strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines;
- Experience with foreign and cryptocurrencies considered an asset;
- Capable of working independently with little supervision;
- Occasional travel may be required;
- Experience with a multinational corporate structure considered an asset.
